And we feel like we have the urge, the need to share some valuable information with you. Today, we are giving some of our Hacks of SEO, and the ways to rank better in the year 2020.
Best SEO Tips, and Tricks of 2020
1. Website Engagement Metrics
Understand it, and wrap your heads around it. Every business thinks that there is a button to get them on top of SEO, but it is not the case. What we mean by website metrics are
Bounce rate: If it is terrible, then the website will not rank well for competitive keywords. The bounce rating is the percentage of people that come to the site and leave without clicking on a button or viewing a secondary page.
Authority: Google is also looking at you if you are an authority, google presumes that users will visit your website once and then come back for a return visit. If you are not getting a return visit, you don’t have and authority, and it’s going to be very difficult to rank.
Google is also looking at how much time the average person is spending on the website. Part of your SEO Strategy includes creating good quality regularly. So people return, and useful content engages them. You can also add media like photos, videos into paly. We will talk about that little later on down the list.
Your objective here to rank is to have great metrics, and also things like social sharing. If people enjoy your website, are they sharing it socially? Are they clicking on the call button? Are they leaving a comment on your blog or reviews on your product?
Those are all ways Google is looking at your website in judging how much of authority you have and how much your viewers like the website.
So if you are not putting enough thought in the metrics of your actual website design-wise, content-wise. Goodluck in the ranking!
2. Voice Search Engine Optimization (VSEO)
We see it every year, and it’s going up. People are more likely to pick up a phone and do a google search via voice “Hello I am looking for a best Italian restaurant near me,” they are not opening their desktop or laptop to do such specific searches.
So we need to create content around the topic and keywords which are searched more often on mobile. So a Desktop user using Google is different than a mobile user. A different set of words, so, therefore, when creating content, you need to ensure that you are crossing all your t’s and doting your I’s.
You need to be answering the who, what, where, why, how. You need to be including words like the top, best, fast, number one, reasonably priced, affordable. Those types of terms are more likely used while using mobile devices.
So, if you are going to target those types of keywords for VSEO, are highly recommended in 2020. And also the keyword prefix “near me.”
Make sure to get a good reputation online, your google my business is verified, and you are getting credible testimonials because more testimonial and more good testimonials, your local store have, the more likely that Google is going to recommend your business.
3. Make Your Business Name Searched
Is your business being searced? Do you have a reason to rank?
Or is this just a big ego that we believe we are the best in whatever we do? Whether it’s a restaurant, a tow truck company, a plumber. Yes, of course, if you run a business, you own and operate a business, you want to rank first beyond the shadow of a doubt, but you deserve that ranking.
So one of the crucial ranking factors is, Do people google your business? Like are people googling the Digital Legates, is that how they are finding our website. And if your business name itself is not being googled, it shows Google that there is not much interest, and your authority level is dropped. So there are ways to get spikes in that type of search.
Print a business card, or flyer. And instead of the domain on the flyer, when I do blast on the street, or mail out to ten thousand homes. Instead of putting www.digitallegates.com, I might put something like Google Digital Legates, or find me at Digital Legates.
Or simply just put the business name in bold. And most people will know to google search so that it shows Google that people are interested in my business and my brand.
I guarantee this; more often, the organically your business name is searched, the higher your ranking is going be. So if you are working on an SEO strategy for yourself in 2020 or your client, you will need to put consideration into things like print advertising or radio advertising. Some of those older means of marketing still generate good traffic today and show google that you are doing some level of work, and you have authority in your industry.
4. Social Citations & Brand Mentions
Think of it in this way, every time somebody tweets about your business, or mentions your brand, or adds a link from their tweet or LinkedIn or Facebook to your website, that is called a social citation. And brand indicates that even the ones that do not include a link to your site are still significant. Look in a perfect world, yes, somebody with a lot of authority, a lot of followership will mention your business and add a link. Perfect!
That could happen organically or could mean that you work on a deal with somebody that has a lot of online followers, large followership, and you should be paying them for that service. The businesses are not waiting for the strike of lighting. The companies are reaching out to those, that have a big following, paying them a fee, and getting that brand mentions to the website.
5. Video Marketing Can’t Be Ignored
Let’s talk about the benefits of having a video on the website.
Ninety-six percent of people say that they watch an explainer video to learn more about a product or service. Ninety-six percent of the globe that visits a website online has watched an explainer video in the past. That’s Damn near 100 percent!
Seventy-nine percent of people say a brand video has convinced them to buy a piece of product, software, or an application. Those numbers are staggering. Sixty-eight percent of the people say they most prefer to learn about a new product or service, by watching a short video.
This makes a video more popular as learning than text-based articles, which is only 15 percent, and infographic, which is 4 percent, and presentations and sales pitches are 4 percent, whereas ebooks and manuals are 3 percent.
So 68 percent to 3 percent, now its time you start investing financially into creating videos, or you dedicate time, buy a camera, and learn it. It’s not about if you want to do it, its whether you want to bring your business to the next level. And if you’re going to keep plugging your website increasing metrics, you need video.
Its time you do it yourself or hire somebody that can do it for you. Do not miss the ship on this. All the data given above are mentioned here at Video Marketing Stats 2020 and has been taken for reference purposes.
6. User Experience or UX
If the user to the website is not enjoying the experience, they are not viewing many pages, and then you are not going to rank on Google. The User experience is so crucial by every means. First, you want to list with SEO on Google, and you need a good user experience. Then if you do rank, you want people to come to your website and have a good user experience.
If you do not have a good experience, google is not going to rank you.
Put it this way, if I ate at an Italian restaurant last night, and it was horrible. Like I mean, the waiter was bad, food was terrible, and it was cold, and it was overpriced, and the atmosphere was awful. And my friend came to me and asked for an Italian restaurant and ask for a place I recommend.
Do you believe with that bad experience I just have, for any reason in the world I will recommend my friend to Italian cuisines? The answer is no!
So if people are coming to your website and they are bouncing, they are leaving because of no thought put into the user experience. Do you think Google, which is the god of Search Engine, is going to recommend new people to that website? The answer is no!
Improve UX! But How?
So when building a website, forget about guessing how people are going to use the site. Reverse engineer success, pull the statistics required to find out what people are looking for, and how they want to use your website, how they navigate throughout the site. Stop building sites for yourself!
Now let’s say, your website launched today, do you think you are done? Do you think it is the field the dreams like you build it and they will come? No! Let it sit, the first thousand people that went to the site. Look at the stats, make sure the user experience is the best and most optimized experience that you can do.
And there is no website in the world today that is perfect. You need to keep making the revisions required, and user experience should not be overlooked for any reason in the world. In the year 2020, its more important today than its ever before.
7. Mobile-First Is Going To Last
People are more likely in 2020, pick up their phone, and do a search. So google is ranking mobile-first. Meaning that the content in the ways it laid out and structured on a mobile device is hugely impacting your google ranking. If you are avoiding the mobile-first feature, then read further.
I hear it all the time, even some of my clients are only going to look at our website on a desktop. I know what it is. Realtors, architects, and lawyers when they come and hire us for a website,
I hear it as a recurring theme, that mobile is not necessary for our kind of business. My type of client they like looking at our website on a desktop, stubbornness! This is you being stubborn, and you are not open to change.
In 2020, people are on the go, and they are using a mobile device. So look at this in a few ways, structurally you mobile, your website is going to be on point, and also the content that you are giving the person using this has to be easy to read, and you have to be including the keywords and such.
So mobile is essential, we know this. And you can only imagine, the sky is the limit, in ten years who knows, people are not going to use desktop for anything. We are going the route of mobile, so dedicate some time and effort into mobile in 2020 for your SEO.
8. Click-Through Rate (CTR)
For example: If I google “Digital Marketing Services,” based on my location google, which shows me some results, and let’s say our company Digital Legates is ranking on the first spot. However, the search volume for the same keyword in the location is 6,600.
This doesn’t mean that, since my website is on the first spot, I will be getting all 6,600 people to my website. I will only be getting a fraction of that. And that is called your CTR, your click-through ratio.
So, what you want is a high percentage? So how do you get that?
Well, first, you want to rank on the top three, the higher, the better. But you also want to make sure your title texts, your URL, the descriptions look good. My little secret has always been to try to incorporate words like best, top, or number 1. There’s something about having a numeral one as the very first section of your title or meta description, that increase your Click Through Rate.
But if you are building a website, and you are hoping that Google is only going to pull the information and make it look nice and pretty for you on google Serp’s. That is not the case, and you have to manually go through and put efforts into title tag and description. The way you walk google to show it.
So don’t hope for the best, stop wishing for the best, put thought into it, and if you have difficulty in understanding, what type of title should I write that’s going to increase my click-through rating.
Man! Go on google, go on youtube, reverse engineer success, pick some of these big companies, Google them, see what they are writing, make a few changes, and make it your own.
9. Content-Length and Size Matters
Some people are not going to like this, but size does matter, the size of your content matters. The in-depth ness, if that’s even a word, it matters. You cannot be putting out pages that have very little text and thinking, you are going to compete against the pages that have thousands of texts.
Statically, the first, second, and third-ranking pages on google, all have over 2000 words of text. So do not think you are going to compete with these big players that have dedicated a lot of money into copywriting, in content creation, or they devoted a lot of time. You are not going to win that kind of battle.
If you want to compete with the big boys, you need to be creating content. That’s been true for a few years now, and Google is looking for the one-stop-shop. Google is going to recommend a website that has the most information all nicely packaged tight altogether such that it gets eligible for featured snippets too.
Google want a one-stop-shop, so you need to have the who’s, the what’s, the where’s, the why’s and the how’s all on one page. But never duplicate content just for the sake of increasing the content length of your website.
So, if you already have a pre-existing website right now and let say you text is a little bit out of information and skinny, you can make that text much more prominent and fatter. Skinny now, go back, add content, arrange it. If you are not going to write it, hire somebody; borrow somebody that can help you improve content.
The minimal length content website does not rank in 2020. Believe me! You need more and more lengthy texts.
10. Direct Traffic Is The Secret
You need direct traffic to your website. You need a certain percentage of your users to come to their computer or mobile device and go directly into the URL bar and type in www.yourdomain.com. Without having direct traffic, you are not an authority in your industry. And it is going to be very difficult, and damn near impossible, to rank for any significant competitive keywords.
In SEO Trends 2020, direct traffic can be a game-changer. Try to aware the audience about your business more. Use emails and local searches and help visitors learn about your brand. Make them insist on visiting the site more often by just typing the brand name.
Use Google Analytics and local SEO trends to keep track of visitors. Be proactive in finding search queries that are ranking better for your website and bringing more traffic. Use 301 redirects for old and obsolete pages and make internal links to give more weightage to the SEO.
